April 2024 - Star Street Escapes, York - 'Candy Chaos'

Dawn is the owner of the Star Street Salon which is a hair salon specifically for children based in York. As an addition to her business she had the excellent idea to add an escape room aimed at children between 5 and 10,  to her birthday party package.

Escape Tech developed the story,  provided set decor, built and installed the props and tech along with providing GM training. The brief was to design a game that suited the both the younger age group but which still gave the older children a challenge. This  gave our game designer some head scratching moments but the end result has fulfilled the brief and was enjoyed by all the test teams.

Escape Tech are proud to be involved in the production of Dumfries and Galloway's first purpose built escape room in Bainloch Deer Park.  Situated in the picturesque south west of Scotland, Bainloch Deer Park has a renowned deer safari experience and Richard and Lee (Owners) had the inspired idea to add an escape room to their already successful business.

Richard has produced the story and the set build which is second to none, Escape Tech have assisted with advice on game flow and undertaken the tech build.  The game control is via COGs which has given us the ability to adapt quickly to mods and changes and supplied a robust and versatile control system.

Levelup Escapes, Shrewsbury's premier escape room, has now opened their second game and it promises to be an exciting room. The blend of puzzles includes some never before seen ideas which should be a challenge for even the most avid escape room enthusiast.

With room and prop design by Paul, set design by Jess and the techy bits by me(Tony) this room has the lot, immersive set environment, clever puzzle design and special effects that compliment the rest of this excellent build.  Nathan, the owner of Levelup Escapes has had a great deal of input with regular ideas and challenges that have kept the team on their toes (and banging their heads on walls too!) but we have thoroughly enjoyed this project and have kept to the budget and timescales.

You are a team of agents investigating strange lights in the sky over Shrewsbury, suddenly a bright light appears, next you wake up in a grubby white room, surrounded by an eerie hum. Where are your colleagues, what is this place and how do you get out?

Pressure Point have written a truly innovative game and you won't be disappointed in the concept. The set is huge and the number of puzzles is staggering, enthusiasts will find this a challenge but there is something for all skills in this game. Escape tech have been responsible for most of the set build but with Keri doing the excellent art work, we also provided all the tech and coding for what was one of our biggest builds to date, 8 micro controllers running 2 programmes each control the whole game automatically. This was not a build for the faint hearted!

Escape London - 'The DaVinci Room'

Our task was to upgrade an existing  room to add another room in the game and reduce the number of locks to give more electronic control, taking this room from a gen 1 room to a gen 2.

The room was already well decorated so we needed to keep the style of decor within the room to give a seemless upgrade, our plan was to add a secret corridor between the office and the crypt, which has a number of electronic puzzles to solve before  entry to the crypt is finally achieved.

Here are a few pictures to whet your appetite!

Escape Hub, Maidstone - 'The Curse of Curawood's Garden'

Escape Hub have an excellent reputation and with their new room we needed to ensure we kept that successful reputation and build on it.

Our brief was to provide a room in line with Alex's story, our challenge was to provide it in a small space and utilise that space effectively.  Some of the work was done by Escape Hub themselves however the bulk of the decoration and tech was undertaken by Escape Tech. The visual outcome is stunning and the game play makes this a very family friendly room.

Come to Maidstone and see if you can beat 'The Curse of Curawood's Garden'

Pressure Point, Ashford - 'The Moonlit Wild'

Pressure point in Ashford have always produced superb rooms and our task was to raise the quality bar even higher, which was a challenge!

Keri and Mike have always been very involved in their room designs and this was no exception, throughout the build Keri kept a keen eye on progress and no detail was missed. The room needed to be as immersive as possible and was going to be family friendly, the puzzles are a mixture of traditional locks and electronic control. The electronic puzzles use both discreet component circuits designed for the puzzle and Arduino micro controllers running bespoke programmes. The set build has been designed and built to be aesthetically as close to reality as possible and we hope you agree that the room certainly succeeds in this.

If you're in Ashford, pop up and play 'The Moonlit Wild'
